Guard llama

Photograph of a guard llama with a flock of sheep. Both male and female llamas are useful as guardian animals and will charge at and intimidate smaller predators but cannot successfully defend against dog packs, cougars, or bears. Because sheep do not practice the communal dung pile behavior of camelids, guard llamas may be at risk for shared parasites like stomach and intestinal strongyles.
