Egg drop syndrome ’76 eggs

Eggs produced by hens in a flock infected with EDS ’76 virus. One normal egg is present (top center). Affected eggs include pale eggs, thin-shelled or soft-shelled eggs, and shell-less eggs. The contents of the egg at the bottom right have been lost, leaving a thick, collapsed shell membrane. Such membranes may be found admixed with droppings and can be easily overlooked.
