Abdominocentesis sample, horse

Fluid collected by abdominocentesis from a horse with abdominal disease. The cell count and total protein concentration can be assumed to be abnormal because the sample is opaque (the print behind the sample cannot be read through the fluid). Testing should include measurement of l-lactate, glucose, and total protein concentrations, and a WBC count. Cytological examination can also be useful in select cases.
