Mechanism of action of ACE inhibitors

    ACE inhibitors decrease circulating amounts of angiotensin II, thereby decreasing the output of the sympathetic nervous system, increasing the amount of vascular smooth muscle vasodilation, increasing the amount of bradykinin, and decreasing the retention of sodium in water.
