Postmortem photograph of the lung of a cow with severe chronic necrotizing pneumonia due to inhalation of rumen contents. The tissue is consolidated and did not deflate when removed from the thoracic cavity. Tissue was malodorous, suggesting presence of anaerobic bacterial infection.
