Cowpox ulcer on teat, cow
Cowpox ulcer on a teat 7–10 days after onset of lesions. Photographed in England in 1968 during an outbreak of cowpox only a few miles from where Edward Jenner conducted his studies on cowpox and smallpox in the 1790s. This outbreak in 1968 is possibly the last recorded in dairy cattle in Europe.
