Ciprofloxacin

Dogs

25–50 mg/kg, PO, q 24 h

ELDU. Not well absorbed in cats; highly variable absorption in dogs. Do not use in horses; can result in fatal colitis.

Danofloxacin

Cattle (excluding veal and dairy cattle)

8 mg/kg, SC, once

6 mg/kg, SC, q 48 h for 2 doses

ELDU prohibited. Injection site volume not to exceed 15 mL/site.

Difloxacin

Dogs

5–10 mg/kg, PO, q 24 h

Enrofloxacin

Dogs

5–20 mg/kg, PO, IV, or SC, q 24 h

Cats

5 mg/kg, PO, IV, or SC, q 24 h

Use with caution; retinal degeneration and blindness can result.

Cattle (excluding veal and lactating dairy)

7.5–12.5 mg/kg, SC, once

2.5–5 mg/kg, SC, q 24 h for 3–5 days

ELDU prohibited. Injection site volume not to exceed 20 mL/site.

Horses

5–6 mg/kg, IV, q 24 h

5–7.5 mg/kg, PO, q 24 h

ELDU. Use with caution in young foals because of cartilage damage risk.

Swine (all use classes)

7.5 mg/kg, IM or SC (postauricular), once

ELDU prohibited.

Marbofloxacin

Suspension is variably absorbed, compared with tablets. Use with caution in cats; retinal degeneration and blindness can result.

Pradofloxacin

Dogs

3–5 mg/kg, PO, q 24 h

ELDU. Higher doses in dogs associated with myelosuppression. Do not use in dogs < 12 months old.

Cattle (beef cattle intended for slaughter and replacement beef/dairy heifers/bulls < 1 year old)

10 mg/kg, SC, once

ELDU prohibited. Injection site volume not to exceed 15 mL/site.

Swine (weaned swine intended for slaughter)

7.5 mg/kg, IM, once

ELDU prohibited. Injection site volume not to exceed 5 mL/site.
