Capasalid monogenean, skin, mimic tang (Acanthurus pyroferus)

Video of microscopic examination of a skin scraping from a mimic tang (Acanthurus pyroferus). A small capsalid is seen. These parasites are very irritating, so excess mucus is commonly observed. They often are accompanied by secondary bacterial infections, which may be visible at higher magnification. Unstained wet mount; magnification, 40×.
