The AVMA reports that use of homeopathy in veterinary practice has continued to be controversial, with proponents arguing that it can be effective for animal disease and opponents asserting that there is insufficient evidence that it has any of the claimed benefits. The Federal Trade Commission has recently ruled that homeopathic medicines cannot claim effectiveness without “competent and reliable scientific evidence.” The FDA may also release new regulations concerning the practice later this year.
