Recent Trends in Pet Ownership

Changes in the US economy since the recession in 2008 and trends in the overall population of the country mean that the traditional picture of pet owners (a nuclear family including 2 parents and several children and animals) is not as prevalent as it once was. Continued financial stress, changes in demographics, and shifts in the ethnicity of Americans mean that veterinarians may need to address these trends to attract and keep clients.
