Astrocytoma, MRI, dog
Sequential brain images of an astrocytoma in a 5-year-old French Bulldog that developed seizures. The images were acquired at diagnosis, 2 weeks after surgery, and 6 months after stereotactic radiation therapy. The images consist of T2W axial, T1W postcontrast axial, and T1W postcontrast sagittal sequences. Row A shows the tumor at the initial diagnosis, and the ring-enhancement pattern of gliomas is evident in the postcontrast images. Images in row B were acquired 2 weeks after surgery and show that surgery did decrease tumor volume, but tumor is still present. The craniectomy site is visible dorsal to the tumor. Images in row C were acquired 6 months after stereotactic radiation therapy and 8 months after initial diagnosis. No tumor is visible, although a compensatory pocket of CSF is present in the area the tumor occupied.
