Severe chronic necrotizing pneumonia, lung tissue, cow

Necropsy photograph of the lung of a cow with severe chronic necrotizing pneumonia due to inhalation of rumen contents. The tissue is consolidated and did not deflate when removed from the thoracic cavity. The tissue was malodorous, suggesting the presence of an anaerobic bacterial infection.
