Venous blood sample collection, ferret
Collection of a blood sample from the cranial vena cava in a sedated ferret positioned in dorsal recumbency. Note that the needle is inserted left of the manubrium and directed towards the contralateral hindleg. This is the direction in which the vessel runs, thereby decreasing the likelihood of the needle going through the vein when trying to locate the vessel.
